Jan 22nd 2007 - Thistle Molecular Imaging Facility opens in Tecumseh.
In the Fall of 2006, the Ontario Ministry of Health granted the first new Molecular Imaging (in-vivo Nuclear Medicine) IHF license in the past 10 years to Thistle Advanced Digital Medical Imaging,(Windsor, Tecumseh, Essex - formally Essex X-Ray, Ultrasound andMammography). In January 2007 the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission formally approved the Thistle (Tecumseh) medical imaging site plans and safety protocols then issued Thistle Advanced Digital Medical Imaging a CNSC License. After extensive renovations at their new imaging facility at 13266 Tecumseh Rd in Tecumseh a state of the art new Seimans eCam (gamma camera) was installed and integrated with the Thistle WAN/PACS digital network. Under an exclusive arrangement all molecular imaging studies will be reported by the London Nuclear Associates (St Josephs Hospital/London Health Sciences Centre) ensuring the highest quality of patient care. In addition to performing bone scans and other general molecular imaging, the new Thistle Imaging facility will focus on "out-patient Cardiac Risk Assessment". Dr Gervais, Consultant Radiologist and Thistle Medical Director notes that "early diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease can save lives and millions of Health Care dollars". Cardiac Risk Assessment and general molecular/nuclear imaging studies at this new facility may be booked by family Doctors and Regional Medical Specialists.
Osteoporosis Screening
Recently Thistle Advanced Digital Medial Imaging opened a state of the art Osteoporosis Screening Centre in Tecumseh, at their new imaging facility at 12366 Tecumseh Rd. featuring "Fracture Risk Assessment" using a new Hologic Explorer BMD this diagnostic facility is presently open Monday-Friday 8:30-5pm. BMD examinations may be booked by Family Doctors and Specialists.

In a huge North American medical trial involving almost 50,000 Canadian and American women DIGITAL Mammography was proven to be superior to conventional Film /screen mammography in women less than 50 years old and all women with dense breasts. Thistle Advanced Digital Medical Imaging was the first Independant Health Facility (non-Hospital) in Canada to convert to DIGITAL Mammography and since 1999 has more experience with this technology than any other institution in Canada.

After months of renovation and equipment installation the new Thistle Advanced Digital Medical Imaging MAIN OFFICE at 55 Tecumseh Rd. (Tecumseh Rd and Ouellette Ave) in Windsor held it's Open House. The evening featured tours of the new IHF Facility, demonstrations of the advanced digital RIS/PACS and computer equipment as well as CME lecture on Digital Mammography, Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) and NUclear Cardiology for General Practitioners by DR Gervais, Dr Handscomb and Dr Maharaj (of the London Health Sciences network). Coffee, tea, sandwiches and backlava were available and visitors were able to met with senior Thistle Imaging Staff and Radiologists. The new centrally located Thistle Adsvanced Digital Medical Imaging Facility provides state of the art X-ray, General and Vascular Ultrasound, Digital Mammography, and GI services and features a unique oak trimmed waiting atrium and free parking.
